Guwahati, November 13 — The Assam Police have arrested 15 individuals across the state for allegedly posting inflammatory and provocative content on social media following the recent car explosion in Delhi.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed the arrests on Wednesday, reiterating that the state government has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against those attempting to glorify acts of violence or terrorism.

“In connection with the offensive social media posts following the Delhi blasts, 15 persons have been arrested across Assam so far,” the Chief Minister said.

Police sources informed that, in addition to the six arrests made earlier, nine more individuals were taken into custody overnight. The latest arrests include:

  1. Rafijul Ali (Bongaigaon)
  2. Forid Uddin Laskar (Hailakandi)
  3. Inamul Islam (Lakhimpur)
  4. Firuj Ahmed @ Papon (Lakhimpur)
  5. Shahil Shoman Sikdar @ Shahidul Islam (Barpeta)
  6. Rakibul Sultan (Barpeta)

The police have stated that all accused were booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act. Efforts are underway to identify other users who shared or amplified similar posts across social platforms.

Authorities have also urged citizens to refrain from sharing unverified or provocative information related to the Delhi blast, warning that strict legal action will be taken against those spreading communal or extremist narratives.
