Red Fort Blast: ‘Terrorists in White Coats’ — How Radical Ideology, Not Poverty, Fuels New-Age Terror

New Delhi, November 11, 2025 — The investigation into the Red Fort blast has revealed a disturbing truth about modern-day terrorism — the growing presence of educated professionals among extremist networks.

All five suspects linked to the blast, including the deceased Dr. Umar Muhammad, were highly qualified doctors with MBBS degrees and backgrounds in well-off families. They had stable careers, respectable social status, and no record of financial hardship. Yet, each allegedly chose the path of radicalisation.

Investigators say the group operated out of Faridabad, where 2,900 kilograms of ammonium nitrate were seized. The prime accused, Dr. Umar, was an Assistant Professor at Alfalah University, while others worked in private clinics and hospitals. Their education and medical access were reportedly exploited to acquire and conceal chemicals used for explosives.

Experts now describe this as part of a “new wave of educated radicalism”, where ideology, not economic deprivation, becomes the driving force. The case challenges long-held assumptions that lack of opportunity fuels terrorism. Instead, it points to how extremist narratives are weaponising intellect and access to resources.

A senior security officer told RAW Dispatch,

“If radicalisation were about jobs or inequality, these doctors would have had no reason to turn violent. This is ideological indoctrination at its most dangerous.”

The Red Fort terror attack has thus become more than a case of national security — it’s a warning about how knowledge without conscience can be turned into a weapon.
