High Level Red Fort Blast Meeting

New Delhi, November 11 — The Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to chair a high-level security meeting at 11:00 AM in New Delhi following the Red Fort blast that shook the capital on Sunday evening. Initially scheduled for 9:30 AM, the meeting has been rescheduled to allow key intelligence and investigative officials to compile detailed preliminary reports.

The meeting will be attended by Director, Intelligence Bureau (IB); Union Home Secretary; Delhi Police Commissioner; Director General of the National Investigation Agency (NIA); and other senior officials from central intelligence and paramilitary agencies. This is expected to be a crucial security briefing, as the explosion is now being formally treated as a terror attack with possible links to a cross-border network.

According to intelligence sources, the blast near Red Fort, which resulted in multiple injuries and widespread panic, bears the signature of a coordinated terror operation. Investigators have found evidence suggesting the use of a high-grade Improvised Explosive Device (IED). The car used in the explosion was reportedly registered under the name Dr. Umar Muhammad, a Faridabad-based medical professional alleged to have ties with Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM).

The NIA is now expected to officially take over the investigation from the Delhi Police Special Cell, with orders likely to be issued immediately after today’s meeting. A joint task force comprising NIA, IB, and Delhi Police will focus on uncovering the larger terror module operating in the Delhi-NCR region.

Officials will also review national security preparedness, including security measures at key heritage sites, airports, metro stations, and government buildings across the capital. Enhanced vigilance and joint operations between central and state forces are likely to be announced following the meeting.

The Union Home Ministry has directed intelligence units across northern India to remain on high alert, with particular attention to any suspicious cross-border communication or digital footprint related to Jaish operatives.

Sources indicate that Home Minister Amit Shah will issue a public statement after the meeting, reaffirming the government’s commitment to bring the perpetrators to justice and to ensure that no such security breach recurs in the national capital.
