New Delhi, November 10, 2025 — A powerful explosion near Delhi’s historic Red Fort on Sunday evening sent shockwaves across the nation. The blast, which occurred around 7:45 PM, resulted in multiple injuries, one confirmed death, and the destruction of several vehicles parked nearby.
Preliminary investigations have revealed a possible terror link, with the owner of the exploded car identified as Dr. Umar Muhammad, a 34-year-old resident of Faridabad and an alleged operative of the Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) terror outfit.
According to sources in Delhi Police’s Special Cell, Dr. Umar was not just the registered owner of the car but also the suspected suicide bomber. Intelligence inputs suggest that Umar was part of a new Jaish module that strategically recruited medical professionals to carry out high-impact attacks, using their expertise in chemicals and anatomy for creating more lethal explosives.
Officials said the blast was caused by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), planted inside a sedan that was parked near the Red Fort’s outer ring road. The explosion’s impact was so severe that nearby vehicles were reduced to charred shells. Forensic experts and National Security Guard (NSG) teams have been deployed to collect residues and trace the explosive materials used.
Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh condemned the attack in strong terms, stating:
“I wish to assure my fellow citizens that the country’s leading investigative agencies are conducting a swift and thorough inquiry into the incident. The findings of the investigation will soon be made public. I want to firmly assure the nation that those responsible for this tragedy will be brought to justice and will not be spared under any circumstances.”
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken over the probe, and early leads point to a Faridabad-based sleeper cell operating under Jaish’s new India-centric network. Interrogations and raids are currently underway in Delhi-NCR and Haryana.
Residents and eyewitnesses described scenes of panic and chaos as the blast tore through the busy evening traffic. The Delhi Police have increased security at all major landmarks, metro stations, and border checkpoints following the incident.
This marks one of the most serious terror incidents in the capital in recent years, reigniting concerns about the resurgence of Pakistan-backed terror networks in North India.
