President Droupadi Murmu Inaugurates 2nd Bharatiya Kala Mahotsav at Rashtrapati Nilayam

President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the second edition of the Bharatiya Kala Mahotsav at Rashtrapati Nilayam, Secunderabad, marking the beginning of a nine-day cultural celebration showcasing the vibrant heritage of Western India. The festival, open to the public from November 22 to 30, is being organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Textiles and Ministry of Tourism.
This year’s Mahotsav highlights the folk arts, classical traditions, crafts, textiles, music, dance and cuisine of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Goa, Daman & Diu, and Dadra & Nagar Haveli. Thousands of visitors are expected to experience immersive cultural exhibits, live performances, and artisan-led showcases throughout the week.
Addressing the gathering, President Murmu said that while last year’s edition introduced audiences to the cultural richness of Northeast India, the 2025 edition brings the colourful, diverse and historic traditions of Western India to centre stage. She emphasised that such festivals foster deeper understanding among regions, build cultural pride and encourage citizens—especially youth—to engage with India’s heritage.
The President underlined the government’s commitment to promoting cultural awareness and preserving traditional arts through nationwide initiatives and public engagement platforms. She said that events like the Bharatiya Kala Mahotsav strengthen social harmony and inspire collective efforts to safeguard India’s cultural legacy.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, senior Union Ministers, cultural ambassadors and representatives from various art institutions.
The festival will remain open until November 30, offering visitors a vibrant cultural experience at one of the most iconic presidential residences in the country.
