The 10th Session of the Asian and Pacific Centre for Development of Disaster Information Management (APDIM) was held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, focusing on inclusive disaster risk data governance and regional collaboration across the Asia-Pacific.

The Indian delegation was led by Shri Nityanand Rai, Minister of State for Home Affairs and Disaster Management, along with Shri Rajendra Singh (Member & HoD, NDMA) and Shri Manish Bharadwaj (Secretary, NDMA).

In his address, Shri Nityanand Rai reiterated India’s dedication to strengthening disaster resilience. He stressed that under India's Chairmanship — and under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi — India will drive a comprehensive capacity-building agenda focusing on:

  • Risk assessment
  • Geospatial applications
  • Impact-based forecasting
  • Early warning dissemination
  • Climate-resilient infrastructure

India reaffirmed close cooperation with APDIM, UN ESCAP, and regional partners to deal with rising climate and disaster-related risks. This aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 10-Point Agenda for Disaster Risk Reduction.

The session concluded with all member countries expressing a unified commitment to improving disaster data governance and implementing innovative strategies to safeguard communities across Asia-Pacific.
