The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday arrested Anmol Bishnoi, the brother and close aide of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, following his deportation from the United States to India.

Absconding since 2022, U.S.-based Anmol Bishnoi is the 19th accused arrested in connection with the terror-syndicate led by his jailed brother Lawrence Bishnoi. Anmol was chargesheeted by the NIA in March 2023 after investigations revealed that he had actively aided designated individual terrorist Goldy Brar and Lawrence Bishnoi in carrying out multiple acts of terrorism across India between 2020–2023.

According to the NIA, Anmol operated the Bishnoi gang’s terror network from foreign soil, coordinating with gang associates to execute extortion, targeted attacks, and operational planning. He also provided shelter and logistical support to shooters and ground operatives connected to the syndicate.

Investigations further established that Anmol was involved in issuing extortion threats in India while staying in the U.S., leveraging other gangsters to carry out his directives.

The NIA continues to investigate RC 39/2022/NIA/DLI, the major terror-gangster conspiracy case involving the nexus between gangsters, terrorists, arms suppliers, and their financial channels. The agency states that the arrest marks a significant step in dismantling the Bishnoi network’s infrastructure and international support system.
