Anmol Bishnoi taken into NIA custody

A Delhi court on Tuesday sent gangster Anmol Bishnoi, younger brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, to 11 days of NIA custody in connection with ongoing investigations into the expanding nexus between organised crime syndicates and terror groups.

During the hearing, the NIA informed the court that Anmol Bishnoi is a “very important member of a terror–gangster syndicate” operating across India and abroad. According to the agency, he holds critical information related to terror financing, cross-border linkages, and the operational structure of several organised criminal networks allegedly collaborating with extremist outfits.

The agency stated that Bishnoi was associated with the Babar Khalsa International (BKI) Khalistani syndicate and had been an absconder for a considerable period before being deported from the United States along with other Indian nationals. Investigators say his role in aiding extremist elements, facilitating targeted killings, and coordinating extortion activities is now under detailed examination.

NIA asserted that custodial interrogation is essential to uncover the terror-crime ecosystem, identify international handlers, trace funding routes, and determine involvement of additional operatives. The agency believes Bishnoi’s questioning will help expose a larger conspiracy involving the use of gangsters to execute terror-linked operations in India.

The arrest is part of NIA’s broader crackdown on the collaboration between pro-Khalistan outfits and organised crime networks, which the agency has labelled a growing national security threat.

The Delhi court granted 11 days’ custody, acknowledging the gravity of charges and the need for extensive investigation.
