Trump Rejects Any Uranium Enrichment in Iran Nuclear Talks

New Delhi: Donald Trump has firmly rejected Iran’s demand to continue uranium enrichment at any level, stating that the United States will not accept enrichment of 20%, 30%, or any percentage under a future nuclear agreement.

Speaking to reporters, Trump said, “I say no enrichment — not 20%, not 30%. They always want 20%, 30%. They say it’s for civilian use, but I don’t consider it civilian. I’m not satisfied with it.”

The remarks come amid ongoing negotiations between the United States and Iran over Tehran’s nuclear program. Iran has maintained that its uranium enrichment activities are intended for peaceful, civilian energy purposes. However, the U.S. administration has expressed concerns that higher levels of enrichment could potentially shorten the pathway toward weapons-grade material.

Trump clarified that he does not approve of uranium enrichment at any level and indicated dissatisfaction with the current progress of the talks. His comments signal a tougher U.S. stance in negotiations, potentially complicating diplomatic efforts aimed at reviving or restructuring a nuclear agreement.

The issue of uranium enrichment remains one of the most sensitive points in U.S.–Iran relations. While Washington continues to advocate for strict limitations, Tehran has repeatedly defended its right to pursue nuclear technology for civilian use under international law.

Further rounds of discussions are expected, but Trump’s latest statement suggests that significant differences remain between the two sides.
