India Moving Towards Innovation-Driven Economy: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said India is steadily moving towards an innovation-driven economy, with increasing focus on emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, automation and the digital economy.

Speaking at a post-Budget webinar following the Union Budget of India 2026, the Prime Minister highlighted the importance of strengthening innovation ecosystems to boost economic growth. He noted that sectors like AI, automation and design-driven manufacturing will play a key role in shaping India’s future economy.

Modi said the government is working to create an environment that encourages research, technological advancement and entrepreneurship. According to him, innovation and digital transformation will help improve productivity, create new employment opportunities and strengthen India’s global competitiveness.

The Prime Minister also spoke about the government’s focus on healthcare reforms. He emphasised that India is adopting a preventive and holistic healthcare approach, ensuring that citizens receive better medical services and early treatment.

Highlighting recent progress, Modi said the country’s health infrastructure has significantly improved over the past few years with the expansion of hospitals, medical colleges and digital health initiatives.

He added that the government will continue to invest in technology, innovation and healthcare systems to support long-term development and ensure sustainable economic growth for the country.
