Vande Bharat Express to Connect Jammu and Srinagar, Marking Historic Leap in Kashmir Connectivity

In a major milestone for connectivity in Jammu and Kashmir, the much-anticipated Vande Bharat Express will now operate directly between Jammu and Srinagar, significantly transforming travel across the region.

The new service will be officially inaugurated by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw at 10 AM from Jammu Tawi Railway Station. The event will also be attended by prominent leaders including Jitendra Singh, Manoj Sinha, and Omar Abdullah.

With this launch, the travel time between Jammu and Srinagar will be reduced to approximately 4 hours and 50 minutes—offering a faster, more efficient alternative to existing routes. The service is expected to provide all-weather connectivity, making travel more reliable even in challenging conditions.

The train, featuring around 20 coaches, can accommodate over 1,400 passengers in a single journey. This enhanced capacity is likely to support increased tourism, facilitate smoother business movement, and contribute to the growth of the local economy.

Officials see this project as a significant step toward integrating Kashmir more closely with the rest of India, improving accessibility while opening new opportunities for development across the region.
