Tamil Nadu Exit Poll: Vijay Emerges as New Political Force, Signals Major Shift

A dramatic political shift may be unfolding in Tamil Nadu, as exit polls suggest actor-turned-politician Vijay could emerge as a dominant force in his very first election.

According to projections by Axis My India, Vijay’s party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, is expected to win between 98 and 120 seats in the 234-member assembly—placing it directly in contention for power against the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam.

If these projections hold, Vijay’s rise could mirror the historic political breakthroughs of M. G. Ramachandran and N. T. Rama Rao, both of whom successfully transitioned from cinema to politics and reshaped regional power structures.

Exit poll data also indicates that TVK may secure around 35% vote share—on par with Chief Minister M. K. Stalin’s alliance—while the AIADMK-BJP combine is projected to trail behind.

The surge appears to be driven largely by young voters, with strong backing from first-time voters and urban populations. Analysts say this reflects a growing demand for change, with Vijay’s personal popularity playing a crucial role.

If the results align with these predictions, Tamil Nadu’s long-standing two-party dominance could give way to a new political era, with TVK emerging as either the leading party or a powerful kingmaker.
