Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s 93 Powers Rajasthan Royals to Dominant Win Over LSG, Playoff Hopes Stay Alive
The 15-year-old sensation smashed a blistering 38-ball 93 as Rajasthan Royals chased down 221 with ease, defeating Lucknow Super Giants by seven wickets in Jaipur.
Teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi delivered yet another stunning performance as Rajasthan Royals (RR) kept their IPL 2026 playoff hopes alive with a commanding seven-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Match 64 at Jaipur.
Chasing a daunting target of 221, the 15-year-old prodigy stole the spotlight with an explosive 93 off just 38 balls, narrowly missing out on a century. His innings, packed with 10 towering sixes, dismantled the LSG bowling attack and turned what looked like a challenging chase into a comfortable win for the Royals.
Sooryavanshi’s fearless stroke play left spectators in awe as he punished both good and bad deliveries with equal authority. His aggressive knock also brought him closer to Chris Gayle’s IPL record for most sixes in a season, taking his tally to 53.
After his dismissal, Dhruv Jurel calmly guided the chase to completion with an unbeaten 53 off 38 deliveries, ensuring RR crossed the finish line with ease. The win takes Rajasthan Royals to 14 points, and a victory in their final league match against Mumbai Indians could secure them a playoff berth.
Earlier in the evening, LSG posted a formidable 220/5, powered by Mitchell Marsh’s brilliant 96 off 57 balls. Marsh smashed 11 fours and five sixes, continuing his outstanding season and registering his third score above 90 this year.
Jos Inglis also provided a fiery start with a quickfire 60 off 29 balls, helping LSG dominate the powerplay. However, despite contributions from Nicholas Pooran and captain Rishabh Pant, Lucknow failed to fully capitalise in the death overs, with Jofra Archer delivering a tight final over to restrict the damage.
LSG captain Rishabh Pant struggled to contain the Royals’ aggressive batting approach as his bowlers had no answer to Sooryavanshi’s relentless attack. Speedster Mayank Yadav, once known for his express pace, endured a difficult outing and conceded heavily during the chase.
For Rajasthan, the result keeps their playoff dream alive, while Lucknow’s campaign continues to disappoint despite standout performances from Mitchell Marsh throughout the season.
