Samson’s Century, Overton’s 4-Wicket Haul Power CSK to First IPL 2026 Win

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) registered their first victory of IPL 2026 with a convincing 23-run win over Delhi Capitals at Chepauk, thanks to a stunning century by Sanju Samson and a match-winning bowling spell from Jamie Overton.

Batting first after losing the toss, CSK posted a formidable 212/2 on the board. Samson led from the front with an unbeaten 115 off 52 balls, marking his fourth IPL century and first for CSK. He was well supported by Ayush Mhatre, who scored a quickfire 59 as the duo stitched together a crucial 113-run partnership. Samson’s innings was a blend of composure and aggression, featuring elegant boundaries and powerful sixes.

In response, Delhi Capitals got off to a flying start with Pathum Nissanka (41 off 18) and KL Rahul attacking early. However, CSK quickly turned the game around with timely wickets. Jamie Overton spearheaded the bowling attack with a brilliant four-wicket haul, dismantling the middle order and keeping DC under pressure.

Tristan Stubbs fought back with a gritty 60, but lacked support from the other end as wickets kept falling at regular intervals. CSK bowlers maintained control in the death overs, eventually bundling out Delhi for 189.

This all-round performance helped CSK snap their losing streak and gain crucial momentum in the tournament.
