RCB Defeat MI by 18 Runs in High-Scoring IPL 2026 Clash

In a thrilling encounter in the Indian Premier League 2026, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) defeated Mumbai Indians (MI) by 18 runs in a high-scoring match at Wankhede Stadium.

RCB put up a massive total of 240/4, powered by explosive batting performances from Virat Kohli, Phil Salt, and Rajat Patidar. Kohli scored a crucial half-century off 38 balls, marking his second fifty of the season.

In response, MI got off to a strong start, but suffered a setback when captain Rohit Sharma had to leave the field early due to a hamstring injury. Despite contributions from Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya, MI struggled to keep up with the required run rate.

Sherfane Rutherford’s unbeaten 71 off 31 balls, including nine sixes, gave MI hope in the final overs, but the target proved too steep as they finished at 222/5.

With this win, RCB have strengthened their position in the points table, securing third place with 6 points from 4 matches and a healthy net run rate. Meanwhile, MI continue to struggle in eighth position with just one win in four games.

At the top of the table, Rajasthan Royals remain unbeaten with four consecutive wins, followed by Punjab Kings in second place.

The match highlighted RCB’s batting depth and dominance, while exposing MI’s challenges in handling high-pressure chases this season.
