Rajasthan Royals’ Nandre Burger Fined for IPL Code of Conduct Breach During LSG Clash
South African pacer penalised for on-field conduct despite RR’s dominant win over Lucknow Super Giants
Rajasthan Royals pacer Nandre Burger has been fined 10 percent of his match fees and handed one demerit point for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during Rajasthan Royals’ match against Lucknow Super Giants in Lucknow.
According to an official IPL statement released on Thursday, the 30-year-old left-arm fast bowler was found guilty of violating Article 2.5 of the IPL Code of Conduct. The article relates to the use of language, actions, or gestures that may disparage or provoke an aggressive reaction from another player during the course of the match.
The statement said, “Nandre Burger, Bowler, Rajasthan Royals (RR), has been fined 10 percent of his match fees and has also accumulated one demerit point for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during his team’s match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).”
Burger admitted to the Level 1 offence, and as per IPL rules, the Match Referee’s decision in such cases is final and binding. No further disciplinary action will be taken.
Despite the incident, Rajasthan Royals delivered a strong all-round performance against Lucknow Super Giants on Wednesday. Their disciplined bowling attack played a major role in securing a convincing 40-run victory over the hosts in Lucknow.
The Royals’ bowling unit maintained pressure throughout the match, restricting LSG and ensuring a comfortable win that strengthened their campaign in the ongoing Indian Premier League season.
While Burger’s on-field aggression drew attention for the wrong reasons, his team’s dominant performance remained the bigger takeaway from the contest.
