Delhi Capitals Crush KKR by 40 Runs to End Season on a High

Delhi Capitals signed off their IPL 2026 campaign in style with a commanding 40-run victory over Kolkata Knight Riders in the 70th and final league-stage match at Eden Gardens on Sunday. Despite a fighting half-century from skipper Ajinkya Rahane, KKR failed to chase down the target as Delhi’s bowlers dominated the contest.

After being asked to bat first, Delhi Capitals posted an impressive 203/5 in their 20 overs, powered by a fiery knock from KL Rahul, who smashed a quickfire half-century off just 25 balls. Captain Axar Patel chipped in with a valuable 39, while late contributions from the middle order pushed DC past the 200-run mark. Young batter Sahil Parakh also played an impactful innings during the powerplay.

Chasing 204, Kolkata struggled to maintain momentum as Delhi’s bowling attack kept striking at regular intervals. Rahane fought hard with a gritty fifty, but lacked support from the rest of the batting unit. Spinner Kuldeep Yadav starred with the ball, rattling KKR’s batting lineup and playing a crucial role in restricting them to 163 in just 18.4 overs.

The defeat marked a disappointing end for KKR, who finished their campaign outside the playoff spots, while Delhi Capitals ended their season with pride after an otherwise inconsistent run.
