West Bengal Govt Transfers 12 IAS Officers Ahead of Assembly Elections

New Delhi : Ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections in West Bengal, the state government has carried out a significant administrative reshuffle by transferring 12 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers across key departments and districts. The move is being seen as an important bureaucratic adjustment aimed at strengthening governance and ensuring smooth administrative functioning during the election period.
Major Administrative Changes
One of the key decisions in the reshuffle is the appointment of Siyad N as the new District Magistrate (DM) of North 24 Parganas. He was previously serving as the DM of Bankura.
Another major change involves Anshul Gupta, who has been given the additional charge of Municipal Commissioner of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation while continuing as Chief Executive Officer of the Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority. He will also serve as the District Election Officer for Kolkata (North), making his role particularly crucial during the election period.
Meanwhile, Sumit Gupta, who was serving as the Municipal Commissioner of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation, has been assigned additional responsibilities as District Election Officer of Kolkata (South) and given charge of the Directorate of Land Records and Surveys, West Bengal.
New District Magistrates Appointed
The reshuffle also includes appointments of new District Magistrates in several districts:
Nikhil Sharma has been appointed DM of Nadia.
Shewale Abhijit Tukaram will serve as DM of Alipurduar. Anish Das Gupta has been appointed DM of Bankura.
Other Important Transfers
Several other administrative postings were also announced as part of the reshuffle:
Surendra Kumar Meena, earlier DM of North Dinajpur, has been appointed CEO of the Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority.
Shantanu Bala has been transferred as Additional District Magistrate of Murshidabad.
Srinivas Venkat Rao Patil has been posted as ADM of Bankura.
Vivek Pankaj has been appointed Joint Secretary in the state’s Fisheries and Aquaculture Department.
Surabhi Singla has been transferred as SDO of Raghunathpur. Shubham Maurya has been posted as SDO of Bongaon.
