West Bengal Exit Poll 2026: BJP Near Majority, TMC Faces Tough Challenge
Bharatiya Janata Party surge puts All India Trinamool Congress on the defensive in a tight West Bengal race.
After the completion of voting for the West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026, all eyes are now set on May 4, when the final results will be announced. However, the latest exit poll results have already created a major political buzz across the state. According to the P-MARQ exit poll, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is appearing closer than ever to forming the government in West Bengal, while Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) seems to be facing a serious setback.
As per the exit poll, BJP is projected to win between 150 to 175 seats, crossing the majority mark of 148 in the 294-member Assembly. On the other hand, TMC is expected to secure around 118 to 138 seats. Other parties are likely to get between 2 to 6 seats.
Polling for all 294 Assembly seats in West Bengal was conducted in two phases. The first phase took place on April 23 across 152 constituencies, while the second and final phase was held on April 29 for the remaining 142 seats.
If these exit poll predictions turn out to be accurate, it could mark a historic political shift in West Bengal. TMC, which has been in power for the last 15 years under Mamata Banerjee’s leadership, may face an end to its long rule, while BJP could form the government in the state for the first time.
However, the final verdict will only be known on May 4 after the official counting of votes. Until then, political parties and voters alike remain eagerly waiting for the decisive outcome.
