Uttarakhand Transfers 19 IAS, 10 PCS Officers in Major Bureaucratic Reshuffle; Ashish Chauhan Appointed Dehradun DM
State government reshuffles key administrative positions across health, education, tourism, disaster management and urban governance departments
The Uttarakhand government has undertaken a major bureaucratic reshuffle, transferring 19 IAS officers and 10 PCS officers across several important departments to strengthen governance and improve administrative coordination throughout the state.
As part of the reshuffle, IAS officer Ashish Chauhan has been appointed as the new District Magistrate (DM) of Dehradun. In addition to his new role, Chauhan has also been given the responsibility of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Smart City Dehradun, placing him at the center of one of the state’s key urban governance assignments.
Senior IAS officer Anand Swaroop has been named the new Commissioner of Garhwal Division, Pauri, replacing Vinay Shankar Pandey. Pandey has now been transferred as Secretary of the Medical Health and Medical Education Department and will additionally oversee the UK Health System Development Project and the Civil Aviation Department.
The reshuffle also includes significant changes in the education and excise departments. P C Srivastava has been appointed Secretary of the Higher Education Department, while Savin Bansal takes charge as Secretary of the Excise Department after being relieved from his role as CEO of Dehradun Smart City. Meanwhile, IAS officer Sonika has been relieved of her additional responsibilities related to the Election Department and Kumbh Mela administration.
Several other officers have also been assigned new responsibilities. Sanjay Kumar has been posted as Director of Social Welfare, Haldwani, while Abhishek Ruhela has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of PMGSY. Deepak Singh has been given responsibilities linked to Backward Classes Welfare, Minority Welfare, and Youth Welfare departments.
In the disaster management sector, IAS officer Saurabh Gaharwar has been appointed Additional Secretary, Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Department, where he will supervise the U-PREPARE project.
Among other major appointments, Alok Kumar Pandey has been made Municipal Commissioner of Dehradun, Namami Bansal joins as Additional Secretary in the School Education Department, and Prateek Jain has been appointed Commissioner of Tax with additional charge as Director General of Elections. Aparna Pandey will serve as the new District Magistrate of Bageshwar, while Aakansha Konde has been assigned as Director General of School Education and Director of the Employees Insurance Scheme.
The government has also reshuffled 10 PCS officers, assigning them new roles in administrative, revenue, and public welfare departments.
Officials stated that the large-scale reshuffle aims to improve governance efficiency, strengthen coordination among departments, and ensure effective administrative functioning across Uttarakhand. All transferred officers have been instructed to assume charge of their new positions immediately after being relieved from their current postings.
