Uday Bhanu Chib Granted Bail in AI Summit Protest Case

New Delhi: The National President of the Indian Youth Congress, Uday Bhanu Chib, was granted bail on Friday in connection with the AI Summit protest case.

The Duty Magistrate at Patiala House Court allowed bail on a personal bond of ₹50,000. The court observed that the Delhi Police Crime Branch failed to provide sufficient grounds to justify a seven-day extension of police custody remand.

Earlier, the Crime Branch had moved an application late at night seeking an extension of Chib’s remand. Separate applications were also filed requesting remand for two other accused individuals in the case.

Following the submission of a bail plea by the defense, the court granted relief to Chib. As part of the bail conditions, the court directed him to deposit his passport and surrender his electronic devices before the court. The matter remains under investigation.
