TMC Faces New Trouble After Bengal Poll Defeat, Asked to Vacate Party Headquarters

The All India Trinamool Congress (TMC), already grappling with a major setback after its defeat in the West Bengal Assembly elections, is now facing another challenge regarding its party headquarters in Kolkata.

According to reports, the owner of the building currently housing TMC’s headquarters has asked the party leadership to vacate the premises within two months. The request was reportedly made verbally to senior party leaders.

Sources suggest that the building owner raised concerns over the property’s security following the election results. Additionally, the lease agreement for the property has reportedly expired, prompting the demand to reclaim the space.

TMC leaders have reportedly assured the owner that the party will soon shift its office to another location. The party had moved into the rented building in May 2022 after renovation and redevelopment work began at its original headquarters in the Topsia area of Kolkata.

At present, the party is operating from a temporary G+4 building located near the Eastern Metropolitan Bypass in Kolkata. With this fresh issue emerging after the electoral defeat, TMC may now have to urgently look for another temporary office space.

The development is being seen as another setback for the party at a time when it is already dealing with political challenges following the state election outcome.
