Pappu Yadav Reacts to Samrat Choudhary Becoming Bihar CM
Questions BJP’s internal decision-making, cites Nitish Kumar’s influence
New Delhi | April 16, 2026 Pappu Yadav, Member of Parliament from Purnia, has reacted sharply to the appointment of Samrat Choudhary as the Chief Minister of Bihar, raising questions over the internal dynamics within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Yadav congratulated the newly sworn-in Chief Minister and his team but also made pointed remarks about the circumstances leading to the leadership change.
“Heartiest congratulations to Bihar’s new CM and his colleagues on taking oath and assuming responsibilities,” he wrote. However, he added that despite Samrat Choudhary becoming the BJP’s first Chief Minister in Bihar, an “eerie silence” prevails within the party.
Yadav questioned whether Choudhary’s elevation came through BJP’s internal leadership process or under the influence of Nitish Kumar. “Did he become CM from Nitish Ji’s quota?” he asked, suggesting that Nitish Kumar’s political will may have played a decisive role in the transition.
He further claimed that “Nitish Ji’s will has prevailed over the choice of BJP’s top leaders,” hinting at possible underlying tensions or compromises within the ruling alliance.
The remarks come shortly after Samrat Choudhary took oath as Chief Minister, marking a historic moment as the first BJP leader to hold the post in Bihar.
Yadav’s statement has added a political edge to the leadership transition, sparking debate over the power balance within the NDA alliance and the BJP’s decision-making process in the state.
