Mamata Banerjee Expresses Shock Over West Bengal Governor C.V. Ananda Bose’s Resignation
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday expressed shock and deep concern
New Delhi : West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday expressed shock and deep concern over the sudden resignation of C. V. Ananda Bose. In a post on social media, the Chief Minister said she was surprised by the development and stated that the reasons behind the resignation were not yet known to her.
Banerjee indicated that the resignation might have taken place under certain pressures from the Union government. She suggested that the Governor could have been subjected to pressure from the Union Home Minister to serve specific political interests ahead of the upcoming state Assembly elections.
The Chief Minister further revealed that the Union Home Minister had informed her about the appointment of R. N. Ravi as the new Governor of West Bengal. However, she alleged that the decision was taken without consulting her, which she said goes against established conventions.
Banerjee criticized the move, stating that such actions undermine the spirit of the Constitution of India and weaken the country’s federal structure. She emphasized that the Centre should respect the principles of cooperative federalism and avoid unilateral decisions that could erode democratic conventions and the dignity of states. The development has sparked fresh political debate, particularly with the West Bengal Assembly elections approaching.
