Giriraj Singh Criticises Opposition Over No-Confidence Motion Against Om Birla
Union Minister says Opposition is trying to disrupt functioning of Parliament
Union Minister Giriraj Singh has criticised the Opposition for moving a no-confidence motion against Om Birla, alleging that Opposition parties do not want Parliament to function smoothly.
Speaking during the ongoing Budget Session of the Indian Parliament, Singh said the move reflects the Opposition’s intention to create disruptions rather than participate in constructive discussions in the House.
The minister questioned the motive behind the motion, stating that the Speaker’s role is to ensure the orderly functioning of Parliament and maintain balance during debates. According to him, targeting the Speaker through such a motion is politically motivated.
Singh further accused Opposition parties of repeatedly attempting to stall parliamentary proceedings instead of engaging in meaningful debate on national issues. He said Parliament is a platform meant for discussion, policymaking and addressing public concerns, and disruptions only affect the legislative process.
The no-confidence motion against Om Birla has intensified political tensions in Parliament, with both the ruling party and Opposition exchanging sharp remarks. The development is expected to spark further debate during the Budget Session as lawmakers discuss the functioning of the House and the responsibilities of the Speaker.
The issue highlights the growing political friction between the government and Opposition inside Parliament.
