From Chartered Accountant to Parliament Star: The Untold Political Journey of Raghav Chadha
From finance professional to national political voice, Raghav Chadha’s rise highlights the emergence of a new generation of articulate and policy-driven leadership in Indian politics.
Raghav Chadha is one of the most prominent young faces in Indian politics today. Known for his sharp speeches, strong debating skills, and strategic political presence, he quickly became one of the most trusted leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). His journey from being a Chartered Accountant to becoming a Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament is a story of ambition, dedication, and political transformation.
Born and raised in Delhi, Raghav Chadha completed his education in commerce and later qualified as a Chartered Accountant. He also worked with reputed financial firms before entering public life. However, his passion for governance and policy reform brought him closer to politics during the anti-corruption movement led by Arvind Kejriwal in 2011.
Inspired by the movement, he joined AAP and quickly became an important member of the party due to his financial expertise and communication skills. In 2020, he was elected as an MLA from Rajinder Nagar constituency in Delhi. During his tenure, he handled important responsibilities and also served as Vice Chairman of the Delhi Jal Board, where he worked on water management and infrastructure reforms.
His growing influence in the party led to his elevation as a Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab in 2022. As a Member of Parliament, Raghav Chadha raised several major issues in the Rajya Sabha, including education reform, unemployment, inflation, federalism, governance transparency, and the rights of states. He also strongly spoke on matters related to Punjab, Delhi, and youth employment, gaining national attention for his parliamentary interventions.
However, over time, reports of internal differences within AAP started surfacing. Political observers believed that Chadha’s rising popularity, independent image, and outspoken approach on several policy matters created discomfort within sections of the party leadership. His increasing visibility at the national level also led to speculation about differences in political priorities.
There were also discussions around his distance from key party decisions and leadership circles, especially after certain organizational reshuffles. Though he remained a public face of AAP for a long time, the political gap between him and the party became noticeable.
Raghav Chadha’s journey reflects the rise of a modern, educated, and articulate political leader who transformed from a finance professional into a national political voice. His story continues to inspire many young Indians who wish to enter public service and politics.
