ED Summons Family Members of I-PAC Co-founder Pratik Jain in Coal Smuggling Probe Ahead of Bengal Polls

New Delhi | April 15, 2026 : The arrest of Pratik Jain, co-founder of the Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC), has intensified political and investigative developments ahead of the upcoming West Bengal elections. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has now summoned his brother Pulkit Jain and wife Barbie Jain for questioning in connection with the ongoing coal smuggling probe.

According to officials, the case is linked to alleged multi-crore coal smuggling operations spanning West Bengal and Jharkhand. The ED has directed both Pulkit Jain and Barbie Jain to appear at its New Delhi headquarters for interrogation as part of the expanding investigation.

The summons were issued shortly after the agency arrested another I-PAC co-founder, Vinesh Chandel, on Monday night in connection with the same case. The arrests and subsequent questioning mark a significant escalation in the probe, which has already drawn considerable political attention.

Sources indicate that Pulkit Jain and Barbie Jain have been asked to present themselves before the ED on April 15 at its headquarters in the national capital. Investigators are expected to examine financial links, communications, and possible involvement in the alleged illegal coal trade network.

The developments come at a politically sensitive time, with West Bengal gearing up for elections. The case is likely to have wider political ramifications, particularly involving parties such as the Trinamool Congress led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

As the investigation deepens, further revelations are anticipated in what is being seen as one of the most significant financial probes linked to political consultancy networks in recent times.
