Digital Strategists, Doctors and Young Faces… Vijay Cabinet Reflects New Political Equation in Tamil Nadu
Actor-turned-politician Vijay is set to take oath as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister along with nine ministers, marking the end of decades-long dominance of DMK and AIADMK in the state.
Tamil Nadu is witnessing a historic political shift as actor-turned-politician Vijay prepares to take oath as the new Chief Minister of the state. Nearly seven decades after Dravidian giants DMK and AIADMK dominated Tamil Nadu politics, a new government led by Vijay’s party, TVK, is set to take charge with the support of Congress, Left parties, VCK, and IUML.
The swearing-in ceremony is being held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai, where Vijay and nine cabinet ministers are expected to take oath. Sources say the new cabinet has been carefully designed to balance youth, experience, grassroots leadership, and digital-era political expertise.
Among the most talked-about faces in the cabinet is S. Keerthana, the youngest minister in the team. The 29-year-old first-time MLA from Sivakasi gained popularity for her strong communication skills and active social media presence.
Aadhav Arjun, TVK’s General Secretary and a former basketball player, is also likely to be inducted into the cabinet. Known as a political strategist, he played a key role in strengthening the party’s urban support base in Chennai.
C.T.R. Nirmal Kumar, considered the architect of TVK’s digital campaign strategy, is another prominent name. His aggressive social media outreach helped challenge traditional political campaigning models in Tamil Nadu.
Former IRS officer and doctor K.G. Arunraj, who won from Tiruchengodu, is expected to handle key policy and governance responsibilities. Meanwhile, N. Anand, regarded as one of Vijay’s oldest and most trusted associates, is also set to become part of the new government.
Senior party coordinator K.A. Sengottaiyan, lawyer and party treasurer P. Venkataramanan, social activist Rajmohan Arumugam, and dentist-turned-politician Dr. T.K. Prabhu are among the other leaders likely to take oath as ministers.
Vijay’s rise to power is being seen as one of the biggest political upsets in recent Tamil Nadu history. Although TVK initially fell short of the majority mark, the party secured enough support from alliance partners after days of intense negotiations to form the government.
The formation of the new government is being described by supporters as the beginning of a “new political era” in Tamil Nadu.
