Union Home Minister Amit Shah on April 22, 2026, addressed a public rally in Hooghly, West Bengal, outlining a series of promises aimed at voters ahead of the ongoing Assembly elections.

Speaking at the rally, Shah announced that if the Bharatiya Janata Party comes to power in the state, it will provide 1 lakh government jobs annually to unemployed youth. He emphasized that boosting industrial growth would be a key strategy to generate employment opportunities.

Targeting the ruling All India Trinamool Congress, Shah accused the state government of corruption and alleged that public money lost in scams would be recovered and returned to the youth.

He further asserted that issues like “illegal infiltration,” “love jihad,” and “land jihad” would be addressed under a BJP government , promising stricter governance and law enforcement.

Election Context

Shah also took aim at Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, claiming that her government would be voted out in the current elections. He urged voters to support the BJP in the upcoming phases.

Voting for 152 Assembly seats in West Bengal is scheduled on April 23 and April 29, 2026, making these promises central to the party’s campaign strategy.
