‘Viral Girl’ Case Takes New Turn: Probe Confirms Minor Tribal Identity, Kidnapping Case Registered
NCST findings confirm victim is a minor from a Scheduled Tribe, prompting serious legal action against accused
New Delhi | April 10, 2026 A major development has emerged in the widely discussed ‘Viral Girl’ case from Khargone, Madhya Pradesh, as an investigation by the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes has confirmed that the girl in question belongs to a tribal community and is a minor.
The findings have significantly altered the course of the case. Following the revelations, a kidnapping case has been registered against Farmaan Khan at the Maheshwar police station in Khargone district.
The probe was initiated after a formal complaint was filed on March 17 by social activist and lawyer Pratham Dubey from Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh. Dubey had urged the Commission to investigate the girl’s age and background, submitting relevant documents to support his request.
Acting on the complaint, the Commission’s inquiry team submitted its report within three days, confirming that the girl belongs to a Scheduled Tribe category. Additionally, a birth certificate issued by the Government Community Health Centre in Maheshwar verified that she is a minor.
The latest findings are expected to have serious legal implications, as authorities proceed with further action in the case.
