UPSC Civil Services Examination 2025: 958 Candidates Recommended for Appointment

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the final results of the Civil Services Examination 2025, recommending 958 candidates for appointment to various prestigious services of the Government of India. The results were announced through a press note issued by the Press Information Bureau.
The final merit list has been prepared based on the candidates’ performance in the written examination conducted in August 2025 and the Personality Test (Interview) held between December 2025 and February 2026. Candidates recommended through this examination will be appointed to key services including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and other Central Services Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’.
Top Rankers
According to the merit list released by UPSC, Anuj Agnihotri has secured the first rank in the examination. Rajeshwari Suve M stands at the second position, while Akansh Dhull has secured the third rank. Out of the total 958 recommended candidates, the category-wise distribution is as follows:
General: 317 candidates EWS: 104 candidates OBC: 306 candidates SC: 158 candidates ST: 73 candidates The list also includes candidates from the Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) category across different classifications.
Vacancies in Services The Government has reported a total of 1,087 vacancies across various services. Among these, 180 posts are for the IAS, 55 for the IFS, and 150 for the IPS. Additionally, 507 vacancies are allocated to Central Services Group ‘A’ and 195 posts to Group ‘B’ services.
Reserve List
UPSC has also prepared a consolidated reserve list of 258 candidates in accordance with the rules of the Civil Services Examination. This list includes candidates from General, EWS, OBC, SC, ST, and PwBD categories.

Conducted annually by UPSC, the Civil Services Examination is considered one of the most competitive examinations in India, selecting candidates for top administrative and diplomatic roles in the country.
