UP: Shahjahanpur Lekhpal Dies by Suicide After Lying in Front of Train

A government revenue official (Lekhpal) died by suicide after lying in front of a moving train in Uttar Pradesh’s Shahjahanpur. The entire incident was captured on a nearby CCTV camera, sending shockwaves through the local administration and residents.

According to initial reports, the lekhpal reached the railway track and was seen waiting for an approaching train. CCTV footage shows him standing near the tracks for some time. As the train approached, he suddenly lay down on the railway track, resulting in his death on the spot.

Local police reached the scene soon after receiving information about the incident. The body was recovered and sent for post-mortem examination. Officials have also collected CCTV footage from the area to understand the circumstances leading to the incident.

Police said an investigation has been launched to determine the reason behind the extreme step. Authorities are also trying to ascertain whether the lekhpal was under any personal or professional stress. The tragic incident has raised concern among local officials and residents, while the police continue their probe into the matter.
