Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Assam
Guwahati, 13 February 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Assam on 14 February, with a schedule highlighting key infrastructure, connectivity, and digital initiatives in the Northeast. The Prime Minister is set to land at the newly developed Emergency Landing Facility (ELF) on the Moran Bypass in Dibrugarh, where he will witness an aerial display by Indian Air Force aircraft. The ELF, the first such facility in Northeast India, has been designed as dual-use infrastructure capable of supporting aircraft operations during emergencies, including disaster response and strategic missions. During his visit, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the Kumar Bhaskar Varma Setu, a six-lane bridge across the Brahmaputra connecting Guwahati and North Guwahati. Built with advanced engineering features suited to the region’s seismic conditions, the bridge is expected to significantly reduce travel time. In Guwahati, the Prime Minister will also launch development projects valued at over ₹5,450 crore, aimed at boosting connectivity, urban mobility, and public services. Among the highlights are the inauguration of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Guwahati and the National Data Centre for the North-Eastern Region, intended to strengthen digital infrastructure and support government services. Additionally, 225 electric buses will be flagged off under the PM-eBus Sewa Scheme, promoting cleaner and more efficient public transport.
