President Droupadi Murmu to Grace International Women’s Day Celebrations in New Delhi

India will celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8, 2026, with a national-level event organised by the Ministry of Women and Child Development at the Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi. The event will be graced by the Droupadi Murmu, marking a significant moment in recognising the achievements and contributions of women across the country.

The programme will take place in the presence of Union Minister for Women and Child Development Annpurna Devi and Minister of State Savitri Thakur.

The celebration will begin with a welcome address by MWCD Secretary Anil Malik, followed by audio-visual presentations showcasing increased workforce participation of women and government initiatives aimed at empowering them.

President Murmu will deliver the keynote address, while Minister Annpurna Devi will highlight the government’s efforts to strengthen women-led development.

Two panel discussions will follow the inaugural session. The first will focus on “Labour Codes – Enhancing Empowerment of Women,” while the second will explore “Self-Help Group Women as Entrepreneurs.”

The event is expected to witness participation from around 1,000 women representing more than 150 ministries, departments and organisations, including members from the armed forces, police, media, healthcare, sports and other sectors. It aims to reaffirm the nation’s commitment to gender equality, dignity and empowerment of women.
