PM Modi Condoles Deaths in Cuttack Hospital Fire, Announces Ex-Gratia Aid

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in a tragic fire incident at a hospital in Cuttack. The incident, which occurred in the eastern state of Odisha, has led to casualties and injuries, prompting condolences from the Prime Minister.

In a message shared on X, the Prime Minister described the incident as “deeply painful” and conveyed his condolences to the families who lost their loved ones. He also wished a speedy recovery to those injured in the mishap.

To support the affected families, the Prime Minister announced financial assistance from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund. An ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh will be provided to the next of kin of each deceased victim, while ₹50,000 will be given to those who sustained injuries in the fire.

Authorities are currently assessing the situation and providing medical assistance to the injured, while further details about the incident are awaited. The tragedy has sparked concern over hospital safety and emergency preparedness in healthcare facilities.
