Karnataka High Court Pulls Up Accused in ‘Bengaluru Metro Chicks’ Case

The Karnataka High Court has strongly reprimanded the accused in the “Bengaluru Metro Chicks” Instagram case and ordered that legal proceedings against him must continue. The accused had approached the court seeking to quash the criminal case, but his plea was rejected.

During the hearing, Justice M. Nagaprasanna sharply criticized the accused’s actions. The judge questioned his conduct, stating that secretly taking photos of women from different angles and posting them online without consent was unacceptable. The court also raised serious concerns about women’s safety in public spaces.

The defense argued on technical grounds, claiming that the investigation was flawed since the investigating officer was also the complainant. It was also argued that the offense was minor. However, the court dismissed these claims, stating that technicalities cannot overshadow the seriousness of such acts.

The case dates back to 2025, when an Instagram page named “Bengaluru Metro Chicks” allegedly posted objectionable photos and videos of women taken without their consent inside metro premises in Bengaluru. Following complaints, police registered a case under the IT Act and laws protecting women’s dignity, and the page was taken down.

The High Court emphasized that such behavior cannot be tolerated and stressed the importance of ensuring women feel safe in public spaces.
