Indian Coast Guard, Gujarat ATS Seize 203 kg Suspected Narcotics Near Maritime Border
The operation, conducted overnight on February 16
In a major anti-narcotics operation, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG), in coordination with the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), intercepted a speed boat carrying approximately 203 kg of suspected crystalline narcotic substance in the Arabian Sea near the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL). The operation, conducted overnight on February 16, followed specific intelligence inputs shared by Gujarat ATS regarding a foreign vessel suspected of drug trafficking. Acting swiftly, an ICG ship deployed under Coast Guard Region (North West) was diverted to intercept the target. Despite challenging maritime conditions, the Coast Guard successfully tracked and pursued the fleeing boat using a combination of human intelligence and advanced surveillance systems. Upon interception and boarding, officials discovered two foreign nationals on board. A detailed search of the vessel led to the recovery of 203 packets, each weighing about one kilogram, containing a crystalline substance believed to be narcotic drugs. The seized boat, contraband, and crew members were escorted to Porbandar for further investigation. Authorities stated that the confiscated material will undergo detailed chemical analysis to confirm its composition.
