Illegal Gas Theft from Underground PNG Pipeline Busted in Agra
Fast food vendor caught red-handed using unauthorized gas connection; police register FIR
In a shocking case from Agra, a fast food vendor was caught allegedly stealing gas from an underground Piped Natural Gas (PNG) pipeline by illegally tapping into the supply line. The incident came to light during a routine inspection by the Green Gas Limited team in the Jagdishpura area.
According to officials, the accused, identified as Basant Kumar, was using an unauthorized rubber pipe connected to the PNG pipeline at his residence in Jangi Vihar Colony, Amarpura, to prepare food for his fast food business.
Green Gas Limited representative Vijay Kumar Singh said the theft was detected on May 12 at around 3:30 PM during regular patrolling. Following the discovery, police reached the spot and confirmed the illegal gas connection.
Considering public safety concerns, the Green Gas team disconnected the supply and cut the pipeline connection in the presence of police officials. ACP Lohamandi Gaurav Kumar stated that an FIR has been registered and legal proceedings are currently underway.
Officials warned that tampering with underground gas pipelines can lead to dangerous gas leaks, fire hazards, and even explosions. Unsafe rubber pipe connections and unauthorized fittings significantly increase the risk of serious accidents, posing a threat to nearby residents and property.
