Delhi-NCR Taxi, Auto Drivers Go on Three-Day Strike From Today

New Delhi: Taxi and auto-rickshaw drivers across Delhi-NCR have gone on a three-day strike starting Thursday, May 21, in protest against rising inflation and increasing fuel prices. The strike, led by driver unions, will continue till May 23 and is likely to impact daily commuters across the region.

According to driver unions, the main demand is an increase in taxi and auto fares, as fare rates have not been revised for several years despite a sharp rise in CNG prices and other essential expenses. Drivers say the growing cost of living and operational expenses have made it increasingly difficult to sustain their livelihoods.

Delhi-NCR witnesses lakhs of passengers using taxis and auto-rickshaws every day for commuting. With a large number of drivers participating in the protest, commuters may face transportation challenges, including longer wait times and limited availability of vehicles during the strike period.

Authorities are expected to monitor the situation closely as people may have to rely on alternative modes of transport over the next three days.
