Husband Arrested From Cremation Ground After Newlywed Wife’s Suspicious Death in Jhansi

A shocking case has emerged from Jhansi, where a man was arrested directly from a cremation ground after his newlywed wife died under suspicious circumstances just two months after marriage.

The incident took place in the KK Puri Colony area under the Sipri Bazar police station limits. The deceased, 29-year-old Meenu, was found dead at her in-laws’ house on May 4. Her family has accused her husband Himanshu and his relatives of murdering her over dowry demands.

According to police, Meenu and Himanshu got married on February 5, 2026. The husband initially claimed that Meenu suddenly felt dizzy, fell down, and died accidentally. However, her family rejected this version and alleged that she was strangled to death.

After the post-mortem on May 5, the body was taken to the cremation ground, where Meenu’s family protested and refused to allow the funeral until an FIR was registered and arrests were made. Family members claimed they noticed injury marks on her body and accused the in-laws of repeated harassment for money.

Following the complaint, police registered a case against five people, including the husband and other in-laws, under dowry death and related charges. Soon after the husband performed the final rites, police arrested him from the cremation ground itself.

Police said efforts are underway to trace the remaining accused, who are currently absconding. The investigation is ongoing.
