DSGMC Urges Centre to Ensure Uninterrupted LPG Supply for Langar at Delhi Gurdwaras
Committee writes to Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri citing disruption in gas supply amid global tensions
The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) has written to Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri requesting uninterrupted supply of LPG cylinders to gurdwaras in the national capital.
In a letter dated March 12, the committee expressed concern over reports that gas supply from agencies has been affected due to the ongoing global war-like situation. DSGMC said the disruption is impacting the preparation of Langar, the free community meal served daily at gurdwaras.
The committee warned that several historic gurdwaras in Delhi depend on a steady supply of LPG cylinders to continue langar services for thousands of devotees and visitors. In its appeal, DSGMC urged the central government to instruct the concerned departments and oil supply agencies to ensure continuous LPG supply so that langar services are not disrupted.
Emphasizing the importance of the service, the committee stated that uninterrupted gas supply is essential to maintain the tradition of langar, which provides free meals to devotees and people in need every day.
