New Delhi, June 22: Delhi witnessed a relatively cooler start to the day on Monday, with the minimum temperature settling at 27.3 degrees Celsius, slightly below the seasonal average. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the temperature was recorded at Safdarjung, the city's primary weather monitoring station, registering 0.7 degrees below normal.

Among other weather stations across the national capital, Palam recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 24.7 degrees Celsius, followed closely by Ridge at 24.6 degrees Celsius and Ayanagar at 25.3 degrees Celsius. Lodhi Road reported a minimum temperature of 26.6 degrees Celsius.

Despite cloudy conditions in several parts of the city, no rainfall was recorded at any major weather station until 8:30 AM, as per IMD data. However, the weather department has forecast thunderstorms accompanied by light to moderate rain in isolated parts of Delhi later in the day, offering some relief from the prevailing heat and humidity.

The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 38 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, Delhi’s air quality continued to remain a concern. According to data released by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the city’s average Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 206, placing it in the ‘Poor’ category. An AQI between 201 and 300 is considered poor and may cause breathing discomfort to sensitive groups.

Authorities have advised residents, particularly children, senior citizens, and individuals with respiratory ailments, to exercise caution during prolonged outdoor activities.

With the possibility of rain and thunderstorms, commuters are advised to stay updated with weather advisories and plan their travel accordingly.
