Giriraj Singh Targets Rahul Gandhi Over Ranchi Student Protest

Union Minister Giriraj Singh has launched a sharp attack on Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi over the ongoing student agitation in Ranchi, accusing him of selectively raising political issues while allegedly ignoring protests in states where Congress or its allies are in power.

Singh’s remarks come as JPSC and JSSC aspirants continue their agitation in Ranchi over alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations. The students have been demanding greater transparency and accountability in the recruitment process, with the proposed march towards the Jharkhand Assembly leading to heightened security measures in the state capital.

The minister questioned Rahul Gandhi’s silence over the Jharkhand protests and alleged that the Congress leader does not raise similar issues in states such as Punjab and Karnataka. Singh accused Gandhi of attempting to create unrest rather than focusing on genuine concerns of students.

The student movement in Ranchi has been continuing for several days, with negotiations between protesters and the state government reportedly failing to resolve key differences. One of the major points of contention has been the demand for a CBI probe into alleged irregularities, while the state government has proposed other investigative measures.

Authorities have tightened security around the Jharkhand Assembly, imposed restrictions in sensitive areas and deployed additional forces amid the planned student march. Schools in Ranchi were also reported closed as a precautionary measure.
