President Murmu Inaugurates National Arogya Fair 2026 at Shegaon

The President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, inaugurated the National Arogya Fair 2026 at Shegaon in Buldhana district of Maharashtra on February 25, 2026, reaffirming the nation’s deep-rooted commitment to holistic healthcare and traditional systems of medicine. The President also felicitated six senior Vaidyas in recognition of their distinguished contributions to the field of AYUSH healthcare.

Addressing the gathering, the President underscored the timeless Indian belief that overall health is the greatest source of happiness and a cornerstone for national progress. She observed that healthy citizens play a vital role in building a strong and resilient country, noting that AYUSH systems of medicine have made an invaluable contribution to public health. Ancient disciplines such as Yoga, Ayurveda, and Siddha, she said, have served humanity for centuries and continue to remain relevant even in the era of modern medicine.

Emphasising India’s rich natural heritage, the President remarked that the nation’s farms, kitchens, and forests are repositories of medicinal plants and health-protecting herbs. She stressed the need to conserve and enhance this invaluable resource, pointing out that the cultivation of medicinal plants can improve farmers’ livelihoods while also promoting soil health and environmental sustainability. In this context, she highlighted that the promotion of AYUSH systems contributes not only to physical well-being but also to economic and ecological balance. The President further noted the growing global acceptance of integrative medicine, with yoga and Ayurveda gaining recognition worldwide for disease prevention and stress management. She called for continued emphasis on evidence-based research, standardisation, and quality control to strengthen the credibility and international acceptance of AYUSH practices.

Expressing satisfaction over the Ministry of AYUSH’s efforts, the President conveyed confidence that through scientific validation, innovation, and global collaboration, India’s traditional systems of medicine will increasingly become an integral part of the global holistic healthcare framework.
