J.P. Nadda Urges Graduates to Serve Society at Teerthanker Mahaveer University Convocation

New Delhi : March 14, 2026 Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare J.P. Nadda addressed the convocation ceremony at Teerthanker Mahaveer University in Moradabad on Saturday, urging graduating students to serve society with dedication as India progresses through the second phase of Amrit Kaal.

Congratulating the graduates, Nadda described the convocation as an important milestone marking the end of academic efforts and the beginning of professional responsibility. He encouraged students to carry strong values and contribute meaningfully to society.

“You are entering the professional world during the second phase of Amrit Kaal, which brings both opportunity and responsibility to help build a Viksit Bharat by 2047,” he said.

Highlighting developments in India’s healthcare sector over the past decade, Nadda stated that the government has significantly expanded healthcare infrastructure and medical education under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He noted that the number of AIIMS institutions has increased from 6 to 23, strengthening healthcare services and research opportunities across the country.

The minister also pointed to improvements in public health indicators, including a significant decline in maternal mortality and a 21 percent reduction in tuberculosis incidence, which he said is higher than the global average decline.

Nadda further highlighted the impact of Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, describing it as the world’s largest health coverage scheme that provides up to ₹5 lakh per family for hospitalisation.

During the ceremony, 6,041 students received degrees across undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral and diploma programmes, with female students dominating the merit lists in several medal categories.
