Ayush Minister to Inaugurate Upgraded Unani Research Centre at JJ Hospital
Unani Day, observed annually to honor the legacy of Hakim Ajmal Khan
Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush, Prataprao Jadhav, will inaugurate the renovated Co-location Centre of the Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine (RRIUM) at Mumbai’s JJ Hospital campus, followed by Unani Day 2026 celebrations and the opening of a national conference on “Innovation and Evidence in Unani Practice.” The revamped facility, upgraded with an investment of approximately ₹3.84 crore, is expected to strengthen clinical research, academic activities, and patient care. Established in 1984, the centre has played a key role in Unani medicine, and its modernized infrastructure aims to boost evidence-based studies and integrative healthcare alongside contemporary medical systems. The two-day conference will convene policymakers, researchers, academicians, and practitioners to deliberate on innovation, research validation, and integration models in Unani medicine. The inaugural session will witness the presence of senior officials from the Ministry of Ayush, Maharashtra government representatives, and leading Unani experts and institutional heads. The event will feature scientific sessions, panel discussions, and an industry exhibition, alongside the launch of new CCRUM digital platforms, publications, collaborative initiatives, and awards recognizing excellence in research and practice. Unani Day, observed annually to honor the legacy of Hakim Ajmal Khan, highlights India’s commitment to promoting traditional medicine through research, modernization, and global engagement.
