India Issues Advisory Urging Citizens to Avoid Travel to Iran Amid Rising Tensions
Embassy of India in Tehran asks Indian nationals to leave via land routes as regional instability disrupts air travel.
The Embassy of India in Tehran has issued a fresh advisory urging Indian citizens to avoid traveling to Iran amid escalating regional tensions and operational uncertainties in air travel.
In the advisory dated April 23, 2026, the embassy stated that despite reports of limited flight operations between India and Iran, Indian nationals are strongly advised not to travel to Iran by air or land. The warning comes in continuation of earlier advisories issued in view of the volatile situation in the region.
The embassy highlighted that ongoing airspace restrictions and security concerns are continuing to impact international flight operations to and from Iran. These disruptions have created uncertainty for travelers and increased risks associated with movement in and out of the country.
For those already in Iran, the advisory strongly recommends that Indian nationals leave the country through designated land border routes. The embassy emphasized that such movement should be undertaken strictly in coordination with its officials to ensure safety and proper assistance.
To support citizens, the embassy has shared emergency contact numbers and an official email ID for assistance. Authorities have urged all Indian nationals in Iran to remain vigilant, stay updated with official communications, and follow safety instructions closely.
The advisory underscores India’s continued efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of its citizens abroad amid evolving geopolitical tensions in the region.
