The high-level interaction was attended by Sweden’s Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, senior European industry leaders, and representatives from major Indian and European companies. The event was hosted by the Volvo Group.

In his keynote address, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the growing strategic alignment between India and Europe and stressed the importance of trusted partnerships in an increasingly uncertain global landscape. Highlighting the strengthening India-European Union relationship, Modi welcomed the successful conclusion of negotiations for the landmark India-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA), describing it as a transformative partnership expected to unlock new opportunities in trade, manufacturing, technology, services, and resilient supply chains.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the significance of connectivity initiatives such as the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC), saying such projects would add new momentum to India-Europe business ties.

Pitching India as a major global investment destination, Modi pointed to the country’s rapid economic growth, next-generation reforms, improving ease of doing business, digital public infrastructure, expanding manufacturing ecosystem, and modernising infrastructure sector.

Reiterating the vision of “Design for India, Make in India and Export from India,” the Prime Minister invited European companies to expand their engagement with India as a trusted and reliable economic partner.

Modi further stressed the need for India and Europe to jointly build resilient and diversified supply chains. He highlighted India’s ambitious plans in transport, logistics, renewable energy, green hydrogen, and nuclear power, while inviting investments in sectors such as telecom and digital infrastructure, artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors, electronics, deep-tech manufacturing, healthcare, mobility, and urban transformation.

The Prime Minister also emphasized talent mobility, education, and skill partnerships, describing India’s young workforce as a major asset for future global economic growth.

To deepen economic engagement, Modi proposed holding an annual India-Europe CEOs Roundtable and suggested establishing an India Desk at the European Round Table for Industry, aiming to further strengthen industrial and business cooperation between India and Europe.

The interaction served as an important platform for discussions on sustainable growth, technological collaboration, and strengthening resilient economic partnerships between India and Europe.
