PM Modi Flags Off India's First Indigenous Hydrogen-Powered Train from Haryana

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday flagged off India's first indigenously developed hydrogen-powered train from Jind, Haryana, marking a significant step towards sustainable and eco-friendly rail transport.

The 10-coach train is equipped with a 1,200 kW hydrogen fuel cell propulsion system and is designed to operate at a maximum speed of 75 km/h. The project represents India's growing focus on clean energy and indigenous technological innovation in the railway sector.

Powered entirely by hydrogen fuel cells, the train emits only water vapour from its tailpipe, making it a zero-emission alternative to conventional diesel-powered trains. The initiative is expected to reduce carbon emissions while supporting India's broader climate and sustainability goals.
