India captain Shubman Gill has dismissed speculation surrounding Rohit Sharma's retirement, stating that the veteran opener has not informed the team of any plans to step away from international cricket.

Speaking after India's 27-run defeat, Gill made it clear that the retirement talk was driven by media speculation rather than any discussion within the dressing room.

"He's not told us anything. I think it's all out in the media, but there's not been any discussion like that in the team," Gill said.

Chasing England's imposing total of 387/3, Rohit dominated the innings with 17 fours and five sixes. He also shared a brilliant 147-run opening partnership with Gill, giving India a strong platform before being dismissed in the 39th over.

Gill was full of praise for Rohit's batting, highlighting the veteran's ability to pace his innings under pressure.

"The way Rohit bhai paced his innings was outstanding. During the Powerplay, we discussed keeping wickets in hand. Once he reached the 60s and 70s, it was a treat to watch how he accelerated," Gill said.
